Lieutenant Douglas Ingold, along with his wife Lieutenant Sharon Anglin-Ingold, was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 2023. He has a master’s degree in both Business Administration and Human Resource Management. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of major. Douglas is committed to following the leading of the Holy Spirit and participating in bringing the Kingdom of God to all on earth as it is in heaven. He is passionate about ministry and loves his children and 11 grandchildren.

01. How did you first become involved with The Salvation Army? 

I was introduced to The Salvation Army through my wife, Sharon. One of our earliest dates was to count kettles and I’ve never left. The mission was spelled out to me and I knew this is where God wanted me.

02. What is your favorite event or program in The Salvation Army? 

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I will go with Men’s Club because I believe building up men within the church is vital to the Great Commission.

03. Who inspires you and why?

Major Thomas McWilliams because his faith is so genuine and palpable. He inspires me to be authentic and trust in the authenticity of Christ!

04. Do you have any hobbies?

I love riding my motorcycle, building or fixing things, and tinkering around the house with home repairs or upgrades.

05. How do you spend time connecting with God?

Silent prayer and meditation are vital to my connection with God as I need to work hard to slow my thinking down so I can hear Him. Then Bible study and scripture reading daily to hear God’s word. Finally, I really enjoy praise and worship, both listening and singing

06. How does your faith influence your work and/or your everyday life?

My faith drives every aspect of my work and everyday life. As a recovering alcoholic, I have come to the realization that I need Him, and without Him, I can do nothing.

07. What is your favorite Scripture verse and why?

Exodus 14:13, when Moses and the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, facing seemingly certain death and no way out, Moses said, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today” (NASB). In the most dire circumstances, I can trust God’s salvation. When a circumstance seems impossible or tragic, the way I like to say it is, “Watch what God does with this!”

08. What accomplishment are you most proud of?

My 20-year career and retirement from The United States Army, obtaining two master’s degrees, and being commissioned and ordained in The Salvation Army.

09. What are your hopes/goals for the future?

To faithfully live up to my session name and be a true “Reflector of Holiness.”

10. What has been one of your biggest joys in following  Jesus so far?

Being freed from the bondage of guilt and self-degradation and replacing that with real serenity.
