Historic Visit to Capitol Hill

"This is one of the most robust and dynamic welcoming classes we’ve had at The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board." by National Community Relations and Development Department

Recently, Salvation Army officers, staff and National Advisory Board (NAB) members met on Capitol Hill to discuss nationwide homelessness solutions in visits to more than 35 offices of senators. The visits were coordinated with the NAB meeting held in Washington, DC in February.

In addition to the Capitol Hill visits, eight new NAB members were welcomed and installed by National Commander Commissioner Kenneth Hodder. The 2024 new member class includes Haley Anderson, Special Projects and Events Manager for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders; Congressman Donald Davis, (NC-01); Dr. Walter Kim, President of the National Association of Evangelicals; Reverend Dr. Nicole Martin, Chief Impact Officer for Christianity Today; Rick Piña, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer at Inspired Solutions, Steve Schrobilgen, Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Leader for Walmart in the Western United States; Art Taylor, President and CEO of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance; and Jackie Woodward, former brand strategist for several noteworthy companies including McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme and General Mills.

“This is one of the most robust and dynamic welcoming classes we’ve had at The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board,” said the National Commander. “Each of these individuals has been recommended and vetted by our current National Advisory Board and by The Salvation Army. Their vast experience and passion for serving others will help advance The Salvation Army’s mission in the coming years, and I am deeply grateful for their willingness to join us.”

“I couldn’t be more excited about this year’s class of new National Advisory Board members,” said NAB chair Marc Belton. “The National Advisory Board is an incredibly dynamic and experienced group of professionals, and adding their skillsets, insights and collective faith to this group is going to elevate our effectiveness in remarkable ways.”

The National Advisory Board counsels with Salvation Army leadership to advise on important issues relating to furthering the Army’s mission. This includes business development, social services provision, marketing and communications, foundation and corporate partner development, and more.
